AMAZING Boxed DAUM FRANCE-SIGNED PATE DE VERRE TWO FISHES ART GLASS VASE. This is a substantial Pate de Verre art glass centrepiece vase from Daum, France. It is signed on the base. A definite talking point and decorative piece. It is in the original box with Daum leaflet.

There are no chips or scratches. Please zoom in on all the pictures. Model - Vase Gm Pate De Verre Les Poissons 03524. This rare and stunning piece comes to life when lit from the back. The blue colours represent the sea and the fishes are sculpted onto the sides with their tails swirling together to provide the base.

The orange tones at the top form the surface water. Amazingly the fish heads appear inside the vase. From every angle there are fascinating details to see.

The exterior glass is matte with texture, bubbles and dints at the surface. Inside the top the fish heads and the flared top are smooth and shiny. The inner vase is matte. The vase weighs 3.72kg. Maximum width including fish 28cm.

Is a form of kiln casting and literally translated means glass paste. In this process, finely crushed glass is mixed with a binding material, such as a mixture of gum arabic and water. Often with colourants and enamels. The resultant paste is applied to the inner surface of a negative mould forming a coating.

After the coated mould is fired at the appropriate temperature the glass is fused creating a hollow object that can have thick or thin walls depending on the thickness of the pate de verre layers. Daum produces highly sculptural pieces in pate de verre.
