Daum Cameo Thistle Vase Art Nouveau French Glass c1900 Signed to Base

  
A lovely Art Nouveau period Daum cameo vase. It is of slender form which expands near the base. The body is multi tonal with citron and orange over an almost opalescent looking layer. The vase is cameo cut with thistles and spiky leaves highlighted in claret and gold.

It is set on a white metal base which possibly has the Minerva stamp (for French Silver) but it is rather unclear. A lovely example from one of the most prestigious French factories and dating around 1900. Has the Daum Nancy mark to the base in gilt. Minor wear to the gilt.

Traces of gold to the metal mount, so this was perhaps originally gilded. Captured stretched air bubble in the stem. Height 14 cms (5 1/2 inches) Width 5.5 cms (2 1/4 inches) Weight 116 grams (before packing).
