Extremely Rare Solid Red Consolidated Glass Art Deco Martele Vines 7 Vase, Mint

  
Welcome to Antiques & Moore! THIS LISTING IS FOR A GORGEOUS CONSOLIDATED GLASS VASE FROM THE "MARTELE" FLORAL ART DECO 700 LINE IN THE "VINES" OR "FAIRY VINES" PATTERN IN SOLID RED GLASS.

THE VASE HAS A NICE MOLDED DESIGN WITH RAISED VINES FLOWING THROUGHOUT THE BODY OF THE VASE WITH SMALL FLOWERS MOLDED WITHIN THE RECESSED AREAS. MOST OF THIS LINE WAS DONE WITH THE COLOR FLASHED OVER CLEAR GLASS AND IT IS EXTREMELY HARD TO FIND THE SOLID COLORED GLASS VASES WITH SOLID RED GLASS BEING THE RAREST OF THE RARE. THE RAISED AREAS OF THE VINES APPEAR AS POLISHED AND THE RECESSED AREAS HAVE A SATIN FINISH. MEASURES 7" HIGH WITH A 3 5/8" DIAMETER MOUTH AND A MAXIMUM WIDTH OF APPROXIMATELY 7" OR CIRCUMFERENCE OF 23 1/4". THE BODY OF THE VASE IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH NO CHIPS, CRACKS OR NOTED FLAWS.

THERE IS MINOR WEAR ON THE FOOT RING AS EXPECTED. THIS VASE IS ABSOLUTELY STUNNING AND WILL BE A GREAT ADDITION TO ANY CONSOLIDATED GLASS OR ART DECO GLASS COLLECTION! The Consolidated Glass Company was founded in the late 1800's and produced lamp globes and shades for a nation rapidly becoming electrified after the invention of the electricity and the light bulb. While attending the 1925 Paris Exposition, Consolidated became inspired to expand their production and entered into the giftware field. In 1926, Consolidated introduced the "Martele" line imitating the Lalique style and initially advertised their Martele line as a "Lalique reproduction".

Other than the "Lovebirds" design which was a direct Lalique copy, the Consolidated designs were all original. The Martele line was very successful and is perhaps today the most recognized of all Consolidated glass production. Most Consolidated glass, including the Martele 700 line was produced in colored flashed glass which was inexpensive to produce.

The solid glass pieces were more limited in production and are the most sought after with red glass being the most expensive to produce and the most desirable.
