Welcome To The Antique Cabinet. For your consideration is a beautiful and rare.

FRITZ HECKERT Art Glass Vase in the MORMOPAL décor, designed by Otto Thamm, circa 1902. Fritz Heckert Glass Works was a high quality glass house in Petersdorf close to Josephinenhutte. Otto Thamm was born in 1860 and married into the Heckert family in 1891.

He soon became their managing director but unfortunately died around 1905. Amazingly, Otto was almost never known and if not for the recent discovery of a design book in an old archive of a different glassworks, its very likely no one would have ever known much about Otto and his amazing creations. His first significant designs started appearing in the mid-1890s, mostly at this stage continuing Heckerts tradition of fine enameling on other makers blanks. Somewhere at this time, Fritz Heckert acquired the capability to make their own glass in which Otto started his own designs of amazing Art Nouveau or Jugendstil art glass which could certainly rival any other makers of the period. Otto only survived 5 years into this new style production, dying at the young age of 45 which makes one wonder what he could have achieved with more time.

This is really an extraordinary example of his work. The colors are amazing though the pictures can express its beauty far better than words can convey. The vase has a nicely polished pontil on the bottom side, no signature was detected which is common for this glass. It is further enhanced with a wonderful sterling silver overlay executed in an Art Nouveau style with an Art Deco flair! The silver is signed'STERLING'.

6 tall by 4.5 at widest. The glass is in Excellent condition, free of any chips cracks or repairs and very minimal wear. The sterling is in great condition showing showing only light age related wear and tarnish - we did not polish the silver. An Outstanding Piece of Early HECKERT Art Glass!
