LABEL / SIGNATURE / MAKER: NONE / NONE / PRACHEN. Century Glass & Art Glass: Condition & Manufacturing Process Flaws, Marks and Inclusions. It is imperative to be aware that when. You are purchasing vintage 20.

Century glass or art glass items that the following important information applies. I always work hard to inspect all of my items in close detail to note any major faults such glass disturbance, cracks and chips within each of the descriptions.

You can always expect to see some age related marks and signs of wear such as surface scratches and micro fleabites that come with movement. Sometimes these are hard to detect with the naked eye and only show in certain light.

I tend not to sell glass with chips and cracks, although if I do then these flaws will be brought to your attention in writing and an image provided. Many glass items have been hand made so you may also see small imperfections such as bubbles, inclusions & lumps/speckles within the glass mass. Again, these don't always show easily, depending on the light. This is normal and to be expected.

In addition, often'tooling' marks can be seen from where the glass has been shaped and worked during the manufacturing or blowing process. I draw attention to these facts because most buyers of glass including both experienced collectors and new buyers of glass do not see these as faults or damage, but as part of the character due to the age and type of hand made or blown glass being offered. Where uranium content is detected (and the amount does vary), it will be noted in the listing and a photo provided. It is the buyers responsibility to check that this will be allowed into your country.

That said, I will avoid the use of the "U" word in the listing title so as to avoid sending up any red flags to the authorities. Light also plays a big part on how glass looks and will vary and could look different when placed in your home. Indeed, within your home the appearance of your art glass will vary depending on where it is placed so please consider this before purchasing. The majority of art glass contains lead and this helps artists manipulate and cut glass during the manufacturing process, however, this deliberate weakness to it's integrity means that over the years it is liable to damage and wear. I use macro photography that will greatly magnify the size of any imperfections, when in real life the flaws are much smaller.

Most glass will have some form of flaw or other, even if it is an air bubble or some furnace ash, but flaws can be hidden when displaying glass so please keep this in mind when you position your glass and use it. Indeed, if you go to the Murano website, they say that these flaws are proof of their character and originality!

This applies to all of my vintage glass listings as 99% of glass does have some signs of use commensurate with age and usage and is normal. My prices reflect the popularity, rarity, size and condition of any given piece. PLEASE CHECK OUT MY OTHER ITEMS FOR SALE OR/AND FEEL FREE TO ADD ME TO YOUR FAVOURITE SELLERS OR FOLLOW ME.
