A machine age Art Deco vase by D'Avesn for Daum. Date : 1931-6 Origin : France Colour : Teal Bowl : A tapered rfunnel form with acid cut textured bands and moulded fins Pontil : Ground Glass Type : Lead Size : 20.5cm tall Condition : A 5mm chip under band on one of the fins has been filled Restoration : None Weight : 1744 grams. Additional Information : Pierre d'Avesn was born in 1901 and worked at Rene lalique from the age of 14.

During his time at Lalique he designed such pieces as the serpent vase and the Tourbillons vase. He is now regarded as one of the most important designers in France. In 1926 Pierre left Lalique in 1926 to make his own pieces which were made by Cristallerie de Saint-Rémy. He worked on designs for other manufactories until 1939 when he began working on his own designs and these designs were produced by Cristallerie de Choisy-le-Roi (Sèvres).

This was produced for Daum Freres between 1931 and 1936. I have been involved in the antiques business since 1971. My career took a leap forward when I joined Bonhams in 1976.
