The squat and fat vase with short neck was popular during Mid Century Modern. We were not able to find a makers mark, none the less, truly a treasure. The first inside gathered layer of glass is a thin white, then a thick clear layer of glass.

The next and top glass layer is black. The black was removed with acid-etching.

The acid removed the black glass not covered with resin, leaving the pattern of leaves and branches. This technique results in a frosted clear glass background that looks white with a visual depth to the actual white under layer of glass. The black leaves and branches seem to be floating on the outside surface of the vase. Thank you for your understanding.
