Fabulous Gambaro e Tagliapietra Murano Tetrad Dual Handled Scavo Art Glass Vase

  

For your consideration we offer a fabulous Gambaro e Tagliapietra Scavo art glass vase made in Murano, Italy. This exquisite Murano glass vase features a canteen body in vivid sunshine yellow with the contrasting rolled lip of the opening in scarlet red, a pair of fluted cobalt blue handles, and a circular base in deep emerald green. Finished using the "scavo" technique (obtained by applying on the hot glass a dust of salt and various minerals that corrode its surface giving it a texturized and aged appearance). Both the design and the finish date originally to the 1980s, but the designer tetrad of contrasting colors make this object a fresh and modern piece that will perfectly enhance any contemporary or transitional decor.

Substantial in size standing approximately 9 inches in height on a 3.5 inch diameter base, the vessel measures 6.5 inches in length, is 4 inches wide, with a 3.25 inch polished and rolled opening. The vase weighs 3.5 pounds. The condition is excellent with no chips, cracks, impermeable stains, prior repairs, or other compromising imperfections found. Bubbles, striations, and other anomalies inherent with hand crafted and blown art glass (in particular with the scavo technique used in its creation) are present and visible, however these merely add to the vessel's individual character and personality, making each piece one of a kind.

About the artist: Matteo Tagliapietra started as shop assistant at the esteemed glass workshop "Gambaro & Poggi" in Murano, Italy. He soon showed his talent and became a "maestro" at the age of 21. In 2015 Matteo became part of the new generation of the brand and, together with Luciano Gambaro, he makes exquisite mouth-blown pieces creating his own style of Murano glass, using both age old traditional techniques and experimenting with new ones.
