Large Pair Smoked Dimple Glass Vases RSW Wuidart & Co Sweden 46cm 1950s
Rare Pair of Large Smoked Glass Dimple Vases - Ronald Stennett-Willson for Wuidart & Co, Sweden, c. A stunning and exceptionally rare matched pair of hand-blown smoked grey glass dimple vases, designed by the celebrated British glass designer Ronald Stennett-Willson (RSW) and produced in Sweden for the prestigious London retailer J. At 46 cm tall and 25 cm in diameter, these are genuinely large floor-standing statement pieces - considerably bigger than the small tabletop examples more commonly found on the market today, making them a truly special find. Each vase features the iconic RSW all-over circular indented dimple pattern covering the bulbous teardrop body, tapering to a elegant narrow neck with a distinctive vertically ribbed finish and original period rubber rim ring.
The smoky blue-grey tinted glass has a beautifully cool, silvery quality that catches the light superbly. Stennett-Willson's work is strongly influenced by Scandinavian modernism and is held in the permanent collections of the Victoria & Albert Museum, London. His Wuidart-era pieces from the 1950s are among the most sought-after in British mid-century glass collecting. Dimensions: H 46 cm × W 25 cm (each). Condition: Excellent - no chips, cracks, or repairs.
Original rubber rim rings intact on both vases. A rare opportunity to own a large-scale matched pair of museum-quality mid-century glass.
These would make an exceptional display in any modernist, Scandi, or eclectic interior.
