Mike Hunter Zanfirico Split Abstract Glass Sculpture
Michael James Hunter glass vessel. The hollow body is formed using twisted filigree canes of different colour-ways. The vertical pattern is'split' by horizontal canes giving the piece its name.
Signed'M Hunter Twists Zanfirico Split. This is an original concept piece and one of the first'penguins' that Hunter ever produced. It was only after the glass was blown and finished that the penguin concept emerged. A later example was created for the Bergstrom-Mahler Museum exhibition "Big Ideas/Small Packages: Magnificent Glass Under 20" Hunter began his career working at Wedgewood Glass, Perthshire Paperweights and Welsh Royal Crystal.
