This listing is for a wonderful Cenedese Murano Glass Aquarium Vase. Handmade on the island of Murano, Italy, around 1960 or slightly later, the base is signed with an etching,'Cenedese Murano', possibly. Made by artist Ricardo Licata or Alfred Barbini for the Vetreria Gino Cenedese Art Glass Company.
The thick, heavy vessel, weighs in at a huge 9.5kg and features 3 beautiful tropical fish swimming. It is a stunning expression of the strong tie between the tiny island of Venice and the briney waters in which the fishes reside. The aquarium bottom is covered with seashells and blue flecks within the glass. There are felt pads added to the bottom to protect the vase and the surface it sits on. Wonderfully smooth and rounded, tactile finish, this masterful illusion would be a stunning addition, to complement mid century kitsch, minimalist, or contemporary interior design.
It is in amazing condition with no chips or cracks. The only small flaw is one tiny fleabite (about 5mm above the base) on one side of the vase measuring 2mm x 3mm. This is shown in the photograph's. There are no water marks to the interior. Measurements: Height 25cm x Diameter (at top) 22cm.
The glass itself is a full 1 thick. Please follow us, bookmark us and check back often.
