RARE Stuart & Sons Opalescent footed vase art nouveau period c1910

  

Here is a very unusual vase by Stuart and Sons. I have seen this shape many times, often in their dark green or with the addition of of roundels for their peacock and dragonfly ranges. I have never seen it in opalescent glass as seen here though.

It is very similar to Powell/Whitefriars straw opal in appearance and could easily be mistaken for their work. The vase stand on a foot and has a flower bud shaped bowl with undulating flared out rim with the opalescence running in vertical swathes down the body. Stands 5.75" diameter and 4.5" tall, weighing 486 grammes. Excellent condition with no apparent damage.
