Rare Vintage Whitefriars Art Glass Green 1964 Knobbly Vase Lamp Base 9.5 #9612. This fabulous art glass vase or lamp base is a wonderful example of Whitefriars Glass' iconic Mid-century glassware. Designed by Wilson & Dyer in 1963 and first featured in the 1964 catalogue.
It goes without saying that Whitefriars and their designers are synonymous with 1960s Britain and played a huge part in defining the modernist aesthetic of the era. This particular piece is the 1963 example of the Knobbly Vase or Lamp Base (pattern number #9612) in the now scarce green colourway, size 9.5in though please note actual measurements may vary slightly due to the individual nature of these pieces.
With it's spectacular cased bumpy textured design and rich green colour it is a classic of British modernism and will make a fabulous addition to any vintage home or collection! Just over 9.5in tall, 3.75in width at widest point, just under 1.75in across rim and the opening has a diameter of 1in. Base is 2.25in wide.
Condition is'Used' - Some wear commensurate with age such as light scratches to the surface in places such as a group of small scratches towards top behind one knobble and one long but light scratch down one side towards the bottom. Some internal marks from use however may come up nicely with a proper glass wash.
