Salamandra glass Portsmouth NH art glass vase early in design and manufacture, very nice without flaws. Salamandra Art Glass of Portsmouth, New Hampshire was founded in 1975 by David Bellantone and Todd Phillips with apprentice George Cirocco. Todd Philips was a professional glassblower who studied in Venice, Italy. David Bellantone had participated in the Haystack School of Crafts on Deer Isle, Maine. The studio was known for their compound paperweights with multiple layers or depths and was included in a show of paperweights at the Elements Gallery in Greenwich, CT in January 1978.

In May 1977, David Bellantone and Todd Phillips, along with 35 other crafts people, were invited to a White House luncheon hosted by Rosalynn Carter. The studio stayed in operation until 1991 although it is unclear if all three partners remained with the studio. George Cirocco later re-opened the studio in 1996 in Dover, New Hampshire and continued until 2009. Todd Phillips later became the President and CEO of the Quoizel Lighting Company.
