Verreries d'Art de HEM Glass Vase Michel Herman Czech 1920's COCKATOO PARROT

  

A black Czech glass vase designed by Michel Herman and made by Verreries d'Art de HEM. The vase features a hand painted stylised Cockatoo / Parrot on a branch.

The branch, top and foot rims and the butterfly on the reverse are applied silver. Identifying Marks / Makers Marks. Has a label inside which reads "Real Silver and Hand Painted Crystal". Also has a paper label on the base with a number.

Age / date of manufacture. Measures 9 5/8" (24.5 cm) tall to the rim, is 4 3/8" (just over 11 cm) in diameter across the rim and 4 1/2 (11.5 cm) in diameter across the base. In good undamaged condition with no chips or cracks. The hand painted decoration is in good condition without damage.

The silver decoration has tarnished (I have not polished this). The surface of the black glass is uneven, it looks like it may have had a coat of lacquer to prevent the silver tarnishing but this has started to flake away, it is difficult to show in the photographs.
