Vibrant blue Carnaby vase originally designed in 1967 by the famous Danish glasdesigner Per Lütken. For Holmegaard Glasworks A/s and the series came in production in 1968.

The height is 16 cm / 6.3" and diameter of the disc is 12 cm / 4.7" whilst top diameter is 7 cm / 2.7. The Carnaby series came in various colours and i have 4 other items from the collection currently up for sale. And my collection of Scandinavian vintage glas please see the sections below. Holmegaard glasworks was established by nobleman Christian Danneskjold-Samsoe in 1825 in the southern part of the Danish island of Sealand and started production of bottles for liquor and beer - then 140 years later (1965) all glas works in Denmark was merged into the company know as Kastrup-Holmegaard which have produced anything imaginable created in glass ex.

Vases, glasses, lamps, decanters, candleholders, storage boxes, piggybanks even detailed instruments has been produced by the company. Since 1925 Holmegaard has labeled some of their items and many changes have been done to the stickers in the past 90 years - ex. In 1927 the swan from the founders family heritage was incorporated into their logo and when in 1934 the company was appointed by the Royal Danish Court as a supplier they proudly announced it on many of their various future stickers. Some items from the mid 1960´s until 1977 was labeled with Kastrup-Holmegaard stickers as they cooperated in different projects until Kastrup glassworks was closed down in 1979. In 1970 Holmegaard got a new logo and sticker made and this was called the Danish flag label and had both a Danish flag and the Royal crown displayed together with numbers indicating year of production.
