WMF Ikora Art Glass Vase / Lamp Base Large Size Vintage in Orange and Burgundy

  
A mid century WMF Ikora art glass vase. This example appears to be post war from the colours and effects and is quite different to the pre war pieces.

It is of large bulbous form with a small neck so is more for decoration rather than to be used for flowers. These large examples were also sometimes used as lamp bases. The base is flat ground to make it stand sturdily.

The vase has had all kinds of decoration thrown at it with an orange base, metallic oxides and lime green air spots all cased in thick clear glass. I suspect it is 1950's or 60's from the colour scheme which is towards then end of art glass production at WMF. No makers marks which is normal, these pieces just had paper labels when new. Wear to the base as expected, very little wear or scratching to the body. There is an internal flaw line descending from the rim and merging with a flow line in the surface. This appears to be an internal stress line caused during production, likely at the annealing.
